MY WEDDING PICTURE
It seems like yesterday
I was as happy as can be
when my wish came true
and I held you in my arms.
When I first saw you
It was like a blind man
seeing for the first time.
I knew you were better
than gold—pure platinum,
the way you glowed,
and glowed and glowed—
casting a light that has
endured for 65 years
with not one rainy day—
just a double rainbow
in a blue sky—an omen,
that made us together
as one in all creation.
We planted our tree
alongside our old silo.
It has now grown bare,
and trembles in the wind
as we wait for a forest fire
to burn our tree to the ground
allowing for our re-creation.
